Going on vacation these days can drain the family budget even more then times in the past. With gas prices off the chart and the ripple effect it’s having on all things travel related, finding Cheap ways to make a vacation fun is a must!
So the topic for this weeks Monday’s with the Mouse is finding Cheap Souvenirs at Disney.
One Fun and Cheap way to get souvenirs into your vacation are the
Penny Press Machines.
It was our second trip at Disney World when my DH found these and we all got hooked. We actually saw our first machine at the All Star Movie Hotel’s Food Court.
There was a choice of three pennies, if I’m remembering correctly. The cost to press one penny was .51¢. We let the girls each choose their own design and then let them take turns ‘presssing their pennies’ . After that, we realized that this was going to be something we just had to do while on vacation, so we purchased a coin collector book in the hotels gift shop. We did end up buying two books, one for each girl ( Daddy had to share..LOL).
When we got to the Magic Kingdom we decided that as we worked our way through the park, we would all be keeping our eyes peeled for the penny press machines. This just added to the Magic in the park. We found those machines in the funniest places at times. It almost became like a scavenger hunt type event.
Since that trip, we have added to the coin collection through the years. With each new ride and attraction we look for the machine.
Some other great aspects to these souvenir’s, is that they don’t take up a lot of room and their easy to pack when it’s time to head home.
