To be honest, neither my princesses or I have ever read the original book Journey To The Center of The Earth, so we had no preconceived ideas of what should or should not happen in the movie.
We rented this movie a couple weeks back thinking it would be a good movie to just kick back, relax, and watch. Little did we know that after 20 minutes into the movie, we would all be sitting on the edge of our seats wondering how it was going to end!
Now we were not engaged in this movie because all of the great ‘acting’ that was taking place. LOL. It was all the great adventures and non stop action that was going on that kept us glued to our tv.
My biggest pet peeve with any movie like this is when they throw a romance in there that makes no sense. This one does that, but not in a real annoying way. It didn’t take up a lot of the movie which was ok with me. The only sexual content really that I saw in this movie was that of Trevor ( the older one) and Sean ( the younger one) saying they had ‘dibbs’ on the girl. Once the action gets going though, you really don’t pay too much attention to it.
As I said before, this movie is VERY action packed. I figure any boy over the age of 6 would LOVE this movie, though I would be careful for any little girl that doesn’t like surprises that would make her jump or scenes that aren’t ‘scary’ intense, but action intense. My princesses are 15 and 17 so they were fine with it.
Now I’m writing this late at night, so I don’t have one of my princesses point of view, but I do that they both really enjoyed it. We laughed a lot at some of the funny lines and were even caught of guard with some good ‘surprise’ moments in the film.
All in all this is a fun movie to watch. It won’t win any awards for best acting or writing, but it was a lot of fun to sit and watch together as a family.
Here is a trailer for the movie I found on YouTube.
