One of the biggest struggles I have had lately in my pursuit of getting back to being a Domestic Engineer (or Domestically Inclined ) is being able to tear myself away from this computer.
I KNOW so many of you feel this way too. You sit down to just catch up on a little email and blog reading and then WHAM two hours has gone by. Chores have been forgotten and if your like me… you’ve even forgotten that you started dinner and that is now burned.
So I’ve put myself on a ‘work’ schedule. I have set computer time, teaching time, Wii workout time, and domestic engineering time. If I stick to it, my day goes by a lot smoother and things get done.
This has been something I noticed I needed to set as an example to my princesses too. I saw that they were being tempted into turning on Facebook and doing other things while school needed to be done. They saw mom do it, so why can’t they.
That’s when I knew I needed to get a grip.
Ever since my princesses were little I’ve learned that routines are a must for a smooth and peaceful life. It’s not a promise that things will go great – you always have to be flexible for last minute surprises in the routine – but in general, when a man’s ways are not set before the Lord – his path goes crooked.
We have been using the 4-H Foods Project Books and have been having a lot fun working through the different activities they have us do.
I’ve been really surprised at how much they are learning from these simple books. It covers a lot of basic kitchen and health information in a concise and fun way.
What looked like something that would be simple, actually became a practice in patience and perseverance.
They turned out great!! Their dad came home and devoured what was left. He has asked them quiet a few times since then to make some more because he LOVED the way they tasted.
Have a great day!
