It’s Super Bowl Sunday and Blogger is running REALLY slow tonight.
This review will be short and sweet since I haven’t been able to get on till after 10 o’clock at night.
My Princesses are off to bed too, so all the opinions on this one will be from me.
Father Goose is a really cute movie. Of course with it having Cary Grant in the starring role, it’s a given that it’s going to be a good one, but this one includes some really cute little girls that make it even better.
Here is the basic summary of the movie from the Turner Classic Movies DVD site:
Beachcomber Cary Grant leads a peaceful, solitary life as a planespotter on a Pacific island in 1943…until French schoolteacher Leslie Caron and her female charges are stranded with him. How the two help the war effort and fall in love makes for delightful comedy.
Now Cary Grant does play a ‘drunken’ sailor. I don’t condone drinking nor the glorifying of it, but that’s about the only thing in this movie that I didn’t like.
Princess S loves this movie and one of her favorite lines is :
As they are rowing back to the safe island one of the little girls asks if the boat out in ocean that they are trying to avoid is the Japanese..
Cary Grant says ” I don’t know, would you like me to pull up alongside and ask them?”
If you love old movies – which I know A LOT of you have told me you do – and you haven’t seen this one, I HIGHLY suggest you put it in your Netflix que or put it on hold at your local library. You’ll really enjoy this one.
Here is an old trailer I found for the movie.
