OK. If you’ve been reading this blog for any length of time… you know that I LOVE to cook. You could probably even guess that we don’t eat A LOT of junk food because of Gluten Free restrictions and just our day to day choice not to.
So you would think that it may be a little hard for me to review a cookbook like Rick & Bubba’s Big Honkin’ Book of Grub. And you know what.. it was..
I’m not real familiar with Rick & Bubba, but from I understand, they are quiet popular and some say funny. I mean, you got to be somewhat good to have “New York Times Best-Selling Authors” on the front of your book.
And thanks to Thomas Nelson, and the Book Sneeze reviews, I was able to receive a complimentary copy, of what would call a cookbook, by Rick & Bubba.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I didn’t HATE this book. I just wasn’t a big fan of it. And it’s partially my fault. I LOVE cookbooks and I LOVE to review cookbooks, so when I saw the opportunity to review this.. I took it.
The book in general is actually kind of funny. If you can sit and just read it as that.. then your good. But through the years of watching family members and friends struggle with health issues, that stem from weight problems, I have a hard time finding FUN in eating in excess and just because you WANT to.
I don’t want to come across ‘holier than thou’ in this review, but I really think America is slowly waking up to the fact that we just can’t live eating whatever we want. It DOES come back to get in the long run.
This book is filled with witty banter and funny ‘diet’ stories that do make you laugh. And it also has some delicious looking recipes. So don’t totally write it off. Check it out for yourself of course and see what you think.
* Thanks again to Thomas Nelson for the complimentary copy in exchange for the review *
