This is probably my 4th of 5th Max Lucado book review. I truly adore reading his books. Max has an incredible talent/gift of drawing you into Bible stories that you’ve read before and breathing new pictures into them.
Cast of Characters is a collection of some of the most powerful stories from the Bible. From inspiring selections from writings of Max Lucado, a compelling look is taken at some of the most high-impact moments in these biblical stories.
Throughout each story, the reader is taken deeper into scripture. Seeing that now only did God have a place and purpose for each of these characters, but that He must also have a purpose and place for you, the reader.
Included with these stories are follow up study questions that can be used for personal or group study reflection.
Some of the wonderful stories and characters are:
Mary, Peter, Matthew, Joseph, Nicodemus, the Woman at the Well, David, Ester, Job, The Samarian Woman, John, and the Rich Young Man.
My FAVORITE part of this book was the Woman Who Washed Jesus’ Feet.
Max Lucado’s 7:47 Principle is something that will stay with me forever. It’s my life verse, my reminder of how MUCH God loves me and what I am to do with that.
“ Read again verse 47 of chapter 7. “ A person who is forgiven little shows only little love.” Just like the jumbo jet, the 7:47 Principle has wide wings. Just like the aircraft, this truth can lift you to another level. Read it one more time. “ A person who is forgiven little shows only little love.” In other words, we can’t give what we’ve never received. If we’ve never received love, how can we love others? “
I HIGHLY recommend Cast of Characters. It’s a wonderful book about common people in the hands of an Uncommon God.
