I was flipping through my latest Good Housekeeping magazine the other day and thought that tag line was the funniest thing. The article was titled Jeans For Every Body.
The whole tag line was:
It made me LOL because my princesses and I were just talking about this the other day. I was heading out the door to spend the day with a friend and I was having a ‘mom’ fashion crisis. I wanted to wear capri’s but since I was going to be on my feet all day, I didn’t want to wear flip flops. BUT, if I wore my tennis shoes with the capri’s… the ‘mommy look’ fashion police would arrest me. This was my dilemma.
To make a LONG story short, I switched into my ‘approved’ jeans, which look ok with tennis shoes, and went out the door with a seal of approval.
You see I try not to look too much like a “mom”. Not because I’m embarrassed or I think I’m better then anyone, but I enjoy trying to look somewhat nice. I mean where is it written that as soon as you have kids you need to start dressing frumpy?
I don’t have a huge clothing budget. To be honest, I really don’t have much of a clothing budget at all. But when I do need to buy clothes, I try to find some that are somewhat fashionable. I’m a bargain shopper and spent most of my time in the back of the stores where the clearance racks are. You can still find some nice looking things, it just takes some picking through some times.
Modesty is a BIG thing in our home. But my princesses and I know that there is a way to dress modest AND still look like you live in this century.
I really hope I don’t offend anyone here. I truly mean this in humor.
Maybe this will make you LOL!
