Wow. Just about every time I pull up my Google Reader or turn on the TV, I’m hearing more and more about plant based diets.
I don’t even like to call them ‘diets’ really. I mean this is the way people ate for CENTURIES just about, so let’s just call it Plant Based Nutrition.
Linda Berson calls it that. Well, actually she calls it Plant Based Nutrition and Cuisine in her new book Green Science Diet.
Linda contacted me a few backs and asked me if I would be interested in reviewing her book. And since we have been eating more and more of a plant based diet..and because she’s a fellow Floridian… I said sure.
WOW! I was not expecting all the GREAT information that is in this book. Linda’s Green Science Diet book goes FAR BEYOND any Vegan/Plant Based diet book I’ve read so far.
At some points I was sometimes overwhelmed by all the information, but if you take your time and read it in sections, there is SO much to glean from this book.
Coming from her desire to help her husband recover from a very serious heart surgery, Linda dove into researching how they could change their eating and lifestyle in such a way that it would transform their lives.
I had to laugh when I read where Linda states that before this health scare, her kitchen was just another room in her house to decorate.. she rarely used it for cooking.. let alone warming up take out.
Linda has put together a book here that could really be a wonderful help to anyone that is looking to make a drastic, yet healthy, change in the way they eat.
She doesn’t leave any stone unturned. Giving plenty of explanation and references to why she thinks the Plant Based cuisine is the way to go. Charts, references, quotes from doctors, and so much more.. it’s all in there.
Now I’ll be totally honest in saying that I am not 100% sold on total Plant Based diet, but as I’ve said before.. the more and more that my family and I eat of vegetables as main dishes and more.. the better and better we feel.
Linda also includes numerous menus and recipes to help you start out.
I’ve got a TON of these recipes marked on my list to make!
