I should have titled this review…
“ How I Was Rescued On A 7 Hour Plane Ride”
What I mean is that if someone asked me how I spent my 7 hours flying out to the west coast last week, I would have quickly told them I brought a REALLY GREAT book with me.
Having had read all of Candace’s books, I can honestly say that she is at the top of my list of authors I follow and impatiently await new books from.
Candace Calvert’s second book in the Grace Medical series, Rescue Team, does nothing short of wheeling you into an emergency room with a case of readers addictivitis. (not a real medical condition, I promise)
If you could see my copy of Recue Team you’d see a TON of dog eared pages (sorry grandma.. I know you didn’t like that). Page after page of Rescue Team had me saying.. “oh wow.. oh wow”.At times I felt like I was sitting in the break room at Austin Grace with Kate and Lauren, just waiting for Wes to walk in.
In Rescue Team, Candace has intertwined great storylines in a way that only a really great author can do. Forgiveness, redemption, family hurts and issues, and so much more pull you into continual page turning and may give you a case of readers addictivis.
From the author herself..
Tired of running from her past, nurse Kate Callison intends to become Austin Grace Hospital’s permanent ER director and make Texas her home. Despite staff friction, she’s moving ahead. Then unthinkable tragedy wraps the ER in crime tape, brings swarms of media, legal chaos . . . and a search-and-rescue hero who seems determined to meddle in her life.
For Wes Tanner, nothing beats finding someone who’s lost; he’s known that helpless terror firsthand. That’s why he’s determined to extend a lifeline of hope to others as a search-and-rescue volunteer. He’s ready for anything—except Austin Grace’s prickly and dismissive ER director.
As Kate and Wes discover more about each other, new respect becomes something deeper. Kate wonders if her heart might finally have found a home. But when a startling missing person’s case unearths secrets and opens old wounds, she fears that all they’ve found will just as quickly be lost.
I truly loved all the characters in this book. The troubled relationship with Kate and her Dad had me praying for forgiveness. Wes and Kate.. well, come on… who doesn’t root for the main characters to fall in love? Lauren, Judith, and little Harley all had me rooting for them too.
Rescue Team is a must read for any avid Christian fiction reader. It will have your heart beating fast in no time.
