I’m a HUGE fan of Candace Calvert’s books.
Back in July of 2009, I was able to review her very first medical series book, Critical Care, and enjoyed her writing so much that I have read and reviewed every book she has written since than.
Thank goodness Candace writes these medical romances in such a way that you don’t need a medical degree to understand them. I really have no idea what the doctors or nurses may be talking about during a tense situation in the hospital, but I keep reading because I know something good is about to happen and I don’t want to miss anything.
Each of Candace’s books are linked together by various characters. That is just one of the many reasons I love to read her books. As I’m reading and being introduced to new characters, I often wonder… hmm.. will this be the main character in her next book? So, as I was reading Rescue Team last year, and was introduced to a young nurse, Lauren Barclay and her troubled sister, I had a slight feeling that would lead to Candace’s next book. And I was right.
Life Support, number 3 in Grace Medical Series, reintroduces Nurse Lauren Barclay, a loyal sister who puts her life on hold to keep a watchful eye on her troubled sister in Houston. But it’s not just keeping an eye on her sister that keep Lauren’s life a bit busy. So does dealing with an annoying family dog, accusations from co-workers against her sister, and a terribly handsome, but brooding physician’s assistant, Elijah Landry, who doesn’t agree with Lauren’s way of dealing with her family issues.
Eli, Elijah as his mother calls him, is a single dad who has his own family issues going on. A stubborn and unloving father, and a brother who, due to a terrible accident, is left needed constant medical care. Eli has his hands full, doesn’t have room or time for anyone to get close, but can’t seem to stay away from Lauren.
Candace has done another fabulous job weaving some amazing storylines together. As I read through Life Support, I kept thinking, wow.. I would have never have the imagination to create such great storylines. Each one keeping you turning the pages and not too many that you are left confused. All woven together and making you feel like you’re right in the middle of it all.
Life Support not only was a joy to read, but it now has me thinking.. whose next??
So Candace, who will the next book be about?? Vee, Drew, Fletcher, or…. ahhh, who cares, just as long as your write another one.

PA and single parent Elijah Landry is no stranger to stormy relationships, including one with his father, who is threatening him with a restraining order. It won’t stop Eli from protecting his disabled brother—or from making peace with Lauren. He wants that and so much more.
