The hubster and I are Florida Annual Passholders at Disney World, but in the past we have always avoided going to the parks during the summer.
Between the heat and the crowds, we just never wanted to deal with it. We would just wait it out.
But a couple of weekends ago, the hubster convinced me to get online and see if we could get some Fast Pass+ times for some of our favorite rides, and if we could.. we should give it a try.
I’ll be honest. Out of the two of us, I’m the one that hates the crowds the most. I just don’t do cramped spaces well, so I was really leery about going.
Lo and behold though… I was thrilled when I was able to sit down on my computer the Wednesday evening before the Saturday we had planned on going and set up 3 good rides for our trip. One of them being the Mine Train ride that I had yet to go on.
Saturday morning came. We got up early, grabbed our passes and smartphones, and headed to the park.
Was it crowded? OH YEA..
But since we had our passes, the whole day went smoothly and we had a wonderful time.
We leisurely walked through the air conditioned shops going up Main Street, did some pin trading along the way, and enjoyed people watching as we headed to our first ride.
Our set up for Fast Passes that day was Splash Mountain first, than Big Thunder second, than the Mine Train last. Each was timed in such a way that we didn’t feel rushed and were able to just enjoy the day.
We checked our Disney Magic apps as we went along and have learned a few new things too.
Before we got to the park, I guess Splash Mountain had been down for a little while. So although it was working when we got there and our Fast Pass was honored, we had an extra Fast Pass waiting on our accounts for the ‘inconvenience’. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize this till AFTER we left the park, but that’s ok.
All in all this Fast Pass+ capability is pretty cool. Tied into not only your bracelets, but the apps on your phone, I can honestly say the Fast Pass+ has made this Disney gal actually really like Disney on a crowded day!
Oh and check out this cool pic I got while on Big Thunder Railroad… it looks like we are just floating up to the sky..
