Growing up, my mom made sure we watched a lot of classic and fun movies.
One of my favorite memories is curling up on our couch with a bowl of popcorn and watching the live version of Peter Pan starring Mary Martin.
Was it a little childish, well maybe, but back in those days.. (it’s not really that long ago).. we didn’t have all the computer graphics and such to enhance a story or make the ‘strings’ disappear. Yet, the stories were still a lot of fun to watch.
So, when NBC came out with their Live version of Peter Pan, I was really excited to see how it was going to turn out. The Sound of Music with Carrie Underwood, in my opinion, turned out really well, and after watching Peter Pan Live, I think they did another great job.
These types of shows take us back to the good ole days so to speak, when shows were live action, tender, and extremely family friendly. And although it may seem a little ‘cheesy’ today to some people, I think we need more shows like this on television. Less vulgar talk, violence, and sexuality. Just a good ole live action fairy tale.
The cast for Peter Pan Live was a mix of wonderful actors and actresses that seemed to make the story come alive. I enjoyed watching every minute of this show and was thrilled that they released it on DVD for everyone to enjoy.
